An inclusive political party promoting the Green Party's ten key values and the four pillars of Social Justice, Grassroots Democracy, Ecological Wisdom, and Non-Violence.
On Inauguration Day, Jan 20th, people will come together in cities and towns across the country in a nationwide mobilization opposing Trump’s ultra-right, billionaire agenda. Join the organizers, Green Party of Utah, and others to say “WE FIGHT BACK” at the Utah State Capitol at 2pm!
This mobilization is only the beginning. Trump, Musk, and their billionaire friends’ agenda is to destroy worker’s rights, attack women, trans people, and our immigrant neighbors all while paving the way for a complete corporate capitalist takeover by ending regulations to protect the environment, firing thousands of public sector workers, and transferring ever-larger parts of the National Treasury to the military industrial complex.
We can defeat the destructive program of the Trump administration, but we must build a massive movement against the ruling class and the political system that gives everything to billionaires while impoverishing an ever larger section of the population.

Utah State Records Committee Supports Green Party’s Request for Voter Information
Salt Lake City, UT – On August 26, 2024, the Green Party of Utah (GPUT) received notification from the Utah State Records Committee that their appeal to obtain voter registration records was granted. This decision underscores the critical importance of access to voter information for smaller political parties and raises questions about the necessity of high fees for such records. It highlights the need for reasonable accommodations within the democratic process.
Russell Wagstaff, a Co-Chair of the GPUT, commented: “The Green Party’s victory is a triumph for grassroots democracy in Utah. This success paves the way for greater political diversity in Utah and beyond.”
Initially, the Lieutenant Governor’s Office sought to impose a fee of $1,050 for the voter registration records specific to Green Party members in Utah. The Committee deemed this fee unreasonable, particularly for a small party with limited financial resources. Consequently, they ruled that the full dataset must be provided at no charge if it is not feasible to filter the records to include only Green Party registrants.
Lionel Trepanier, a Grassroots Coordinator of the GPUT, stated: “There are numerous barriers impeding democratic processes, especially for smaller political parties. With this decision, Utah is leading the way. The GPUT’s recent victory represents a significant step towards more inclusive and accessible elections in Utah.”
This case may establish a precedent for future disputes over record fees and could impact how government agencies balance revenue generation with the public’s right to access information essential for democratic engagement.
GPUT co-chair, Russ Wagstaff, participated in the comment time during “Free Speech on Trial”, August 7, 2024. , featuring Jill Stein and others. This event was sponsored by the St. Louis Green Party and co-sponsored by the GPUT, among many others. Participants heard how the US government is writing new laws, twisting existing laws, and using lawsuits to target organizers that are fighting to end colonialism and oppression. Adam Guymon, Green Party of Utah member, recently spoke out about Salt Lake City’s negligence in sidewalk repair, posing dangerous circumstances for the public, especially those with disabilities. KSL News featured Adam in an article, just after a women riding a scooter crashed on a broken sidewalk and died from the inuries she sustained.
Guymon, who navigates the city in his power wheelchair, filed a complaint with the city more than a year and a half ago, along with a picture of the tilted concrete. He called it a “neck breaker” and a “wheelchair breaker,” according to city records KSL obtained through a public information request.
According to the article, hundreds of complaints have been filed regarding damaged sidewalks, including complaints filed by Adam, to no avail.
“It’s really saddening that it took someone to actually have to pass away, you know, someone had to lose a family or friend because of that,” Guymon said.
“I do feel anger at the same time I feel frustration,” said Guymon, 47. “They’re elected to, you know, make sure that the city is running correctly, and that people are safe in their city.”
Adam has been a staunch advocate for disability rights and he founded the Green Party of Utah Disability Caucus, bringing real progress for mobility in the state.
“I believe that we have been given a blessing and we need to be grateful for that blessing. I believe that Public Transit, Health Care, is a Right and not a Privilege.I believe in the [Green Party]10 Key Values and the 4 Pillars and I believe our Rights and our Voice is our Freedom. “

On this International Women’s Day, we mourn the loss and displacement of women and children in Palestine, and the Green Party of Utah joins the millions of voices demanding a stop to the horrific genocide.

The statistics of the impact of the devastation in Gaza are astounding.
Close to 1 million women and girls have been displaced
2 mothers are killed every hour
At least 3,000 may have become new widows and women heads of households
At least 10,000 children may have lost their fathers
No safe spaces for women survivors of gender-based violence are sufficiently operational
Additionally, according to the report, there has been a shift of loss in lives since October 2023.
Between 2008 and October 7 2023, the UN had registered 6,542 Palestinians and 308 Israelis killed in hostilities – less than 14% were women and girls
Since October 7 2023, the number of Palestinians killed has tripled the total of the previous 15 years combined, and the demographics have shifted: 70% of Palestinians killed in Gaza are today estimated to be women and children.
The realities of the displacement of women and children can be seen through the eyes of many, as told to writers for the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, as well as through personal accounts are provided in the UN Women’s Report:
“Our house consisted of three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom. It was fully and elegantly furnished. We took such good care of it, but now all we have is a one-room tent. Our house was completely destroyed, so we don’t know where we’ll go after the assault ends.”
“Two weeks after the war started on my due date, I went to the hospital knowing that I was risking my life and that of my long-awaited baby… My doctor decided to use a private clinic that was not fully equipped as it was the only solution available at that time. I risked my life and I hope that I didn’t bring my baby to this world for him to just be killed for no reason! “
“I can never leave my humble house except when I die. My husband can hardly move, and he has no intention of staying or dying in anyone else’s place. … Many older people like us stayed behind and are left to our fate. I am scared, exhausted, and expecting the worst. God will have mercy on us.”
The atrocities of these senseless attacks, funded by the U.S. Empire, have had far-reaching consequences that began long before October 7. Innocent lives have been lost, communities have been shattered, and the cycle of violence has been further perpetuated, with no end in sight.
We stand against oppression, against settler colonialism and against the International crime of apartheid, in alignment with The Green Party Platform .
On this International Women’s Day we urge everyone to speak out against the atrocities of the women and children of Gaza. We ask people everywhere to speak out every day against the genocide of the Palestinian people and demand a stop to the financial and military support by the United States for the acts of violence that are wiping out an entire culture. We stand with the women of Palestine in liberating their people!
From the River to the sea, Palestinian women must be freed. Free Palestine!
Today we celebrate workers all over the world. The Green Party is pro-labor, pro-union and stands for working people. All GPUS staff are union members and all GPUS merchandise is made only by union labor.
Did you know that Elizabeth Gurley Flynn was the inspiration behind Joe Hill’s Song “Rebel Girl”?
Flynn was “an American labor leader, activist, and feminist who played a leading role in the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). Flynn was a founding member of the American Civil Liberties Union and a visible proponent of women’s rights, birth control, and women’s suffrage. She joined the Communist Party USA in 1936 and late in life, in 1961, became its chairwoman. She died during a visit to the Soviet Union, where she was accorded a state funeral with processions in Red Square attended by over 25,000 people.”
Hill was ” a Swedish-American labor activist, songwriter, and member of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW, familiarly called the “Wobblies”). Hill rose in the IWW organization and traveled widely, organizing workers under the IWW banner, writing political songs and satirical poems, and making speeches. He and Harry McClintock were Spellbinders for the IWW and would show up as they did at the Tucker Utah strike on June 14, 1913 (Salt Lake Tribune). His songs frequently appropriated familiar melodies from popular songs and hymns of the time. He coined the phrase “pie in the sky”, which appeared in his song “The Preacher and the Slave”.
As an itinerant worker, Hill moved around the west, hopping freight trains, going from job to job. By the end of 1913, he was working as a laborer at the Silver King Mine in Park City, Utah”.
Utah Phillips was “an American labor organizer, folk singer, storyteller and poet. He described the struggles of labor unions and the power of direct action, self-identifying as an anarchist. He often promoted the Industrial Workers of the World in his music, actions, and words. A graduate of East High School in Salt Lake City, Phillips returned to Salt Lake City, while riding the rails and tramping around the west, where he met Ammon Hennacy from the Catholic Worker Movement. He gave credit to Hennacy for saving him from a life of drifting to one dedicated to using his gifts and talents toward activism and public service.Phillips assisted him in establishing a mission house of hospitality named after the activist Joe Hill. Phillips worked at the Joe Hill House for the next eight years, then ran for the U.S. Senate as a candidate of Utah’s Peace and Freedom Party in 1968. He also ran for president of the United States in 1976 for the Do-Nothing Party.
He adopted the name U. Utah Phillips in keeping with the hobo tradition of adopting a moniker that included an initial and the state of origin.”
Fact: Green Party of Utah member Brendan Phillips is the grandson of Utah Phillips!
